More stability, more durability, more safety and more efficiency.
WILLG has developed a new chassis for semi trailers under these criteria and protected this innovation. With the new carbon composite cross beam between the axle carriers you not only improve considerably the stability and durability of the chassis, but also achieve a significant weight reduction in favour of a higher payload.

Carbon is currently one of the most innovative and versatile materials. The carbon fibre composites are characterized by their low weight and high strength, extreme rigidity and stiffness. Because of these superior properties carbon is used in the aerospace, medical devices and in sports gear.

And now at WILLIG!

Realization

The new construction was developed with a network of specialized companies, institutes and testing laboratories.

 

Since 2008 Willig uses the finite element construction, which was heavily used in the development process. The new chassis undertook a life-time endurance test after completion of prototype production. The manoeuvres on an enclosed off-road areal were continuously monitored with electronic testing equipment. A total of 2,000 figure eights (= 4.000 turns) were performed with intermittent obstacles, which corresponds to a lifetime of 15 years.

 

Every eight to twelve weeks the WILLIG Development department is inspecting the prototype semi trailers.
One vehicle is
tested under particularly hard conditions: It operates in Romania and has to cope with difficult local road conditions. Constant monitoring of all components is carried out by the Willig development team.
Two tank semi-trailers are currently operating on German roads.
The prototypes are on the road since early September 2010.
